Proposal abstract:
Each year, our District partners with the Purdue Cooperative Extension Office in our County, to hold the Youth Conservation Field Day for five local elementary school's 4th grade classes. Approximately 300-325 children are split into groups and rotate between six stations teaching about soil health, water quality, entomology, forestry, wildlife management, and fish management. The groups all gather together right before lunch to learn about recycling and the environment. All sessions touch on the importance of a healthy ecosystem, but our soil health session focuses primarily on the importance of topsoil and its importance to the future of sustainable farming.
