Establishing Sustainable Agriculture - Community Development in Elgin Texas

Summary

Conducted community meetings. Continued small farmer and community stakeholder meetings. Secured a contract and letter of agreement with Karen banks to be the researcher for the project. Her work to initially asses policies and plans in place in Elgin and determine what parts support sustainable community development and agriculture. Determined that the area to be analyzed for agriculture production, and farms, included Bastrop county and the greater Elgin area. Continued a working relationship with TOFGA, the Texas organic farmers and gardeners association for networking and connections, and to plan a farm tour. Continued working relationship with river valley farmers market to plan farm to market events
