Establishing Sustainable Agriculture - Community Development in Elgin Texas

Summary

Completed mapping of vacant lots 1 acre or greater in the Elgin city limits. Complete maps of farms in Bastrop county, map members of the river valley farmers market, utilize maps related to agriculture form the City of Elgin comprehensive plan, secured GIS shape files from the firm that completed the Elgin comprehensive plan. Completed research about policies and programs that support sustainable agriculture and community development. Developed a website to provide a dynamic and interactive way to share all this information with the public and to connect farmers, restaurants, and individuals, created printed materials to increase awareness of the website.

Objectives/Performance Targets

complete map of vacant land in city of elgin, complete policy and program analyis, conduct community stakeholders meeting,complete maps of members in River Valley farmers market, of agricultural use in Bastrop county, utilize GIS Shape files from comprehensive plan.
