Description:
This presentation was given at the 2017 Poultry Science Association Annual Meeting held in Orlando Florida from July 17-21, 2017. Its purpose was to review the switchgrass project related to the first portion of this grant, where small and large average particle sizes of switchgrass were compared at a commercial facility. Bedding characteristics, litter performance, bird performance, and bird welfare were evaluated to come to a conclusion of which size is most optimal for commercial broiler production.
