Hongxu Zhou, PhD student advised by Dr. Rabin Bhattarai, has been awarded First Place in the prestigious Boyd-Scott Graduate Research Award at the 2024 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) Annual International Meeting. This highly competitive award recognizes excellence in the conduct and presentation of research to build the knowledge base needed by engineers who design equipment, facilities, and processes for the sustainable operation of a biological system. Hongxu's winning research explored the use of biochar pellets to reduce phosphorus loss from tile-drained agroecosystems, a critical challenge in modern agriculture.
