Description:
Yellow toadflax, Linaria vulgaris, is an invasive perennial plant brought from Eurasia in the 1600s as an ornamental for gardens and also as a medicinal folk remedy. In this video we will discuss this invasive weed, control methods, and the current best classical biological control agent for use against yellow toadflax, Mecinus janthinis, the yellow toadflax stem boring weevil. Topics will include identification, collection, sorting, release and what to expect from biological control. We will discuss the newest approved biocontrol agent for use against yellow toadflax, Rhinusa pillosa, the yellow toadflax stem galling weevil.
