About
My purpose is to increase knowledge, understanding and awareness of soil health by formulating networks of change within northeastern Washington. I began my work on farms at an organic urban farm in Berkeley, CA in 2013; since then, I've worked at food banks, on a commercial organic farm in California's Central Valley, and other small-scale operations. I pursued a Master of Environmental Studies degree at the Evergreen State College, where I devoted my thesis to understanding the soil health knowledge of farmer's in the Yakima Valley. After graduation in January of 2019, I began my career as a Natural Resource/Farm Planner with the Stevens County Conservation District located in Colville, WA. I wrote farm plans, formed the Northeast Washington Soil Health Stewards group, and continued to form strong bonds with farmers in the community. In November of 2020, I accepted the District Manager position at the Pend Oreille Conservation District, where I worked part-time in my previous job. here, I've been able to put natural-resource conservation on the ground through the Voluntary Stewardship Program. We hope to encourage farmers to improve soil health throughout the region.
