About
April was an organic Vegetable producer for 10 years, selling retail, wholesale and created a CSA. Now She is Raising pastured heritage hogs in a farrow to finish style. Most of the pastured pork is sold direct to customers at the farmer's market so she can engage with her customers, and educate them on her operation, pig breed, and the state of todays pork production. Recently Prusia became licensed to prepare and serve farrow to fork events, where people see the farm and experience pastured pork and seasonal local food on the farm. She runs a farm stay operation that hosts mainly city people that have never seen a working farm or a live pig. April is active in farmer education and activism. She hosts field days, pasture walks, teaches the basics of raising hogs, and lobbies for farmers and rural life with her local Farmers Union Chapter. She serves as a board of director, for her Farmer Union chapter, and she is a coordinator for Pecatonica Pride, a WI DATCP (Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection) producer led watershed initiative .
