About
Dr. Carter has a PhD in Plant Science from the University of Arizona where she specialized in the physiology of drought tolerance in small grains. For four years she served as the technical lead at the seed conservation non-profit Native Seeds/SEARCH where she oversaw the organization's production of arid-adapted and traditional crops of the Southwest and seed bank management. During this time she built relationships with and conducting educational workshops for small-scale tribal producers across the region. She has extensive experience in grant management and agricultural education. Through Seed to Seed International LLC she continues to provide agricultural support to Indigenous producers in Arizona and beyond. She also manages a small Certified Naturally Grown farm outside of Tucson with her husband primarily growing garlic and flowers for local sale.
