About
Garrett Ziegler is an Extension Professional who has over 6 years of experience with MSU Extension as a Community Food Systems Educator. His work has included developing Farm to Institution programs through work both locally and with statewide networks, support and continued development of the West Michigan Growers Group, a local farm nonprofit, and providing outreach and education within the local food systems space. He has worked directly with small farmers to develop a collaborative CSA marketing campaign in West Michigan and has assisted in the development of Michigan's statewide farm to institution purchasing campaign, Cultivate Michigan. He continues to work with small, local farmers on projects that are addressing longer-term viability of small farmers and farmer quality of life issues. Before coming to MSU Extension Garrett received his Master's Degree in Sustainable Tourism and worked in Yellowstone National Park as a sustainability specialist, helping Xanterra Parks and Lodges increase their purchasing of local food for restaurants in the park.
