About
Dr. Jianjun (Jay) Hao is an Associate Professor of Applied Plant Pathology in the School of Food and Agriculture at the University of Maine. His research focuses on potato diseases, soilborne plant pathogens, plant–microbe interactions, soil health, biological control, and sustainable disease-management strategies. He has extensive experience in both fundamental and applied plant pathology research, with particular emphasis on diseases affecting potato production in Maine and the Northeast. Dr. Hao has authored or co-authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and has led or collaborated on numerous research projects supported by federal agencies, commodity organizations, and industry partners. He also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in plant pathology and soil microbiology and has extensive experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Before joining the University of Maine, he served on the faculty at Michigan State University.
