About
Dr. Tagert received her B.S. in biology from Millsaps College, M.S. in forest resources from Mississippi State University (MSU), and Ph.D. in weed science, also from MSU. Most recently, Dr. Tagert’s research has been focused on irrigation scheduling, drainage water management, factors affecting the spatial variability of soil moisture, and agricultural best management practices (BMPs) for reducing nutrient runoff and conserving water. These projects have been funded by USDA and commodity groups. She is a member of the American Water Resources Association and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, a delegate to the Universities Council on Water Resources, and represents the Extension Service on the MSU Faculty Senate. Dr. Tagert has been active in undergraduate student research, advising three student projects in recent years. She was recently selected as a Community-Engaged Fellow by Mississippi State University’s Center for Community-Engaged Learning and has been recognized as a USDA-SARE Fellow for the 2020-2022 program.
