About
Dr. Jacoby began his professional career as an area Extension specialist in Texas and a statewide Extension specialist in Arizona. He returned to Texas and spent almost two decades are a Research Scientist before moving into Land Grant University administration in TX, NE, and WA. He returned to a faculty position in 2013 with a teaching (25%), research (25%), and Extension (50%) position focused on plant ecophysiology of irrigated wine grapes. He developed a novel form of subsurface drip irrigation that did not require buried lines called direct root-zone (DRZ). He is currently pursuing the use of electronic sensing of soil moisture to develop improved use of deficit irrigation to save water and improve quality of wine grapes to enhance wine quality and more sustainability of water resources.
