About
Shemariah Blum-Evitts is Program Director at Land For Good (LFG), a non-profit with a mission to ensure the future of farming in New England by putting more farmers more securely on more land. To this end, LFG is transforming how farmers get on to, hold, and transfer farmland. Shemariah leads their education and advising services across the region.
Shemariah holds a Masters in Regional Planning with a focus in land use and agricultural planning. Her thesis develops a foodshed assessment model to map current and potential working farmland and farmland capacity. Previously, she founded and directed New Lands Farm, which offered training and land access to new American farmers in Central and Western Massachusetts. Since 2004, she has been working or managing small, diversified farms; including a pastured poultry operation in Deerfield, MA with her husband and young family.
