Summary:
Mr. Sauer enlisted the cooperation of an organic farmer, and collected data concerning yields and production costs for several crops, in order to determine variable costs. In the course of doing this it struck him that data gathered on one farm are not easily generalized, and he apparently lost interest. Some of the data, however, were used by his associate, Johanna Cashen, for a thesis toward her degree at Hampshire College.
