Proposal abstract:
The Oceti Sakowin Community Academy (OSCA) is a school grounded in the thought and philosophy of the Oceti Sakowin people (also known as the Great Sioux Nation) and is the first of its kind in Rapid City, SD. We understand that our lifespan operates in circular formation, we take care of the land and animals, and in return, the land and animals take care of us. With this lens, OSCA will educate our students about the importance of sustainable agriculture to us as people, to our animal relatives, and to the land we occupy.
Project objectives from proposal:
Objective 1: In 18 months, OSCA will host 6 food events for students and their families.
Objective 2: In 18 months, OSCA will modify and implement an Oceti Sakowin Traditional food curriculum in their regular school programming.
