Proposal abstract:
From Farm to Fork: Bridging the Gap Between Farms and Montgomery County Schools will engage youth in regenerative agriculture through experiential learning-farm visits, school gardens, and hands-on workshops. Students will explore soil health, composting, and food systems while building connections with local farmers. This innovative approach integrates classroom instruction with real-world practice, making agriculture relevant to all learners and fostering community. By modeling collaboration between schools and farms, the project offers a replicable framework that empowers educators to address crop management , land stewardship, and student engagement in educational settings.
Project objectives from proposal:
The From Farm to Fork project will help youth understand regenerative agriculture by engaging them directly in practices such as soil health demonstrations, composting, and sustainable growing methods at partner farms and gardens. Students will explore how regenerative systems remain economically viable by learning about local food production, market channels, and the financial benefits of long‑term soil stewardship. Hands‑on activities and guest speakers will also introduce career pathways in sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
