Organic Production and Marketing Curriculum for Extension Professional Development (Merits and Adoptability of Organic Agriculture)

Summary

The purpose of this project is to develop, implement and evaluate a curriculum covering the principles and practices of organic production and marketing in the North Central Region. Organic agriculture is growing in consumer demand and sales, but there are gaps in the training materials needed to inform farmers and those who assist farmers of the principles and practices of organic agriculture.

The project will develop a curriculum necessary to fill this gap, by adapting existing resources and designing and new materials where necessary. Then the project will conduct training sessions in the six participating states (Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota) and publish and publicize the curriculum to make it widely available.
