Winter Hardiness Trials of New Garden Chrysanthemum Varieties and Farm Research on Effectiveness of Winter Mulching Techniques

Objectives/Performance Targets

Evaluate, compare, and document the winter hardiness of 50 of the most popular potted garden mum varieties commonly grown by farmers for retail sales. Also evaluate effect on winter hardiness that comes from planting mums grown in recycled cardboard fiber pots directly in the ground, and evaluate the effect of different over wintering mulches on mums.
