RESULTS
Thus far we have approximately 45 hours of video footage from the above listed activities that the video team has attended. We have been actively meeting with farmers and ranchers on their land capturing the moments of their stories that might help others not make the mistakes they have made but also to help others realize and begin thinking about how they might better conserve, preserve, and restore the natural resources that are so important to our well being.

We have learned that videoing and getting together all the pieces needed for a DVD are much more difficult than we had realized that it was going to be. To be working with a group of High School students along with their adviser and mentor has been a great experience and the cooperation that we have received has been most generous.

We’ve been given many opportunities to visit with and be a part of many events that have brought together a lot of people. You can see from the numbers above (over 1000 people) that a lot of good networking has taken place and the feedback from these happenings have been very positive and we anticipate that the enthusiasm will continue into the next year of the grant.

WORK PLAN FOR 2012
We will be working diligently over the next few months on reviewing the footage that we have collected this past year. The videoing is over for the grant unless small occurrences can be captured that would fill in the necessary pieces of the video as we get into that aspect of the grant expectations.

10 to 12 of the Alliance members have taken CD’s home of footage from some of the various events and interviews that were videoed and will be selecting clips of info that will potentially be used in the final DVD product. This cutting and pasting will be going on all summer and into the fall, which is when we hope to release the DVD.

OUTREACH
The number of attendees for each of the events listed can be found on each individual item on the list above. Spring Workshop, Summer Farm Tour, Coffee Shop Talk Meetings and Display Events total numbered over 1000 attendees. For each of the activities that we completed for videoing there was always from 3 to 7 students along with teacher and mentor. At this point in time the sharing of the project was not as focused on as the capturing of the information for the DVD.

The distribution of the DVD this winter will require lots of connecting to people to make certain that it gets into the hands of as many people as possible. This process will require more one on one which should provide for an enhanced opportunity to get the message out there. The results of the project will be an on-going endeavor that will build as time passes, so immediate results will be measured in the number of DVD’s distributed; actual results, which will be determined by acres of cropland converted to a system of enhanced practices involved in the improvement of soil health and quality can only be measured as new acres are converted and adopted.
