Testing Combined Multiple Sustainable Production Methods in Asparagus for Symbiosis between Irrigation, Biofumigation, Advanced Cultivars, and Soil Amendments

Summary

Initial growing season update.

Good germination in mustard but timeframe did not allow much biomass accumulation. Planting of NJ Sup. crowns went in a bit late compared to most area fields. Weeds (crab grass) came in badly in parts of two plots, asparagus growth impacted in those areas; manual weeding required on top of multiple herbicides. Irrigation was critical with long mid summer drought. Chemigation occurred with Ridomil. Fern data gathered and waiting for analysis.
