Winter Barley Breeding: By the Public

Summary

With declining interest in minor corps by public and private plant breeding programs, there is a need to preserve important breeding lines and germ plas of these crops to enhance diversity in sustainable agricultural systems.

Objective: To multiply and distribute diverse winter barley populations to farmers for propogation and feed grain use.

Results: Final results not yet available due to very poor 1996 crop resulting from adverse weather conditions, The project was extended for one year for further study.
