Beef Alliance Association to Develop a Premium Market

Summary

Objective: To form a beef alliance association, whereby cow/calf producers in northeast Kansas can cooperate to breed, feed and market their cattle for a premium price.

Alliance members attended Kansas State University meetings to enhance their record keeping skills through the Standardized Performance Analysis (SPD). They visited the Meat and Animal Research Center in Clay Center, NE, and participated in grazing workshops to learn the importance of genetics and uniformity in obtaining premium stocker/feeder prices.

Reults: Producers have begun implementation of their learned skilled and knowledge.
