Summary
Sharing equipment is an option for reducing overhead for producers in the North Central region.
Objective: To build a database on the Internet of farmers seeking to co-own, lease or co-lease farm equipment.
The producer holds an annual conference to bring together farmers throughout the region to share ideas, needs and concerns related to sharing equipment and to update the database of interested producers.
Results: The project has since evolved into a business with a full-time staff. In addition to providing service to producers seeking co-ownership or leasing options, the producer is developing an Internet equipment auction service with dealers and participating producers.
