Organic Marketing Cooperative

Summary

Small farms cannot individually market to wholesale institutions because of industry standards in quantity, consistency, dependability, speed, professional invoices and availability lists.

Objective: 1) To increase farm incomes and 2)to increase the number of rural jobs.

By forming a marketing cooperative for small, certified organic farms, the producer wants to establish a product market with wholesale grocery chains, buying clubs, farmers markets and its private label.

Results: The producer is requesting monetary and informational support from local extension educators and Rural Development.
