    Summary:

To maintain profitability, sustainable agricultural operations must reduce production costs and increase net income.

Objective: To increase the profitability of raising pastured poultry by constructing a trailer-mounted processing unit to be managed by either an individual family farm or within a farming cooperative.

The producer renovated a secondhand trailer with steel and expanded mesh. A secondhand scalder and new feather plucker were added to the processing unit.

Results: The project could not be completed due to state guidelines.
