    Proposal summary:

Black plastic mulch is a widely used weed control tool on many Northeast vegetable farms. Unfortunately, plastic mulch is made from a non-renewable resource and has disposal issues. This project will compare two biodegradable mulches to black plastic mulch by measuring yield, labor and maintenance requirements, and disposal costs. Outreach will be through articles and presentations.
