Commodities

  • Agronomic: wheat

Practices

  • Crop Production: no-till, application rate management
  • Education and Training: extension, farmer to farmer, on-farm/ranch research, workshop
  • Production Systems: general crop production
  • Soil Management: soil analysis, nutrient mineralization

    Proposal summary:

Increasing fertilizer costs and more stringent regulations mean that farmers must find ways to use fertilizers more efficiently and in ways that reduce runoff. This project will compare wheat yield, quality, and production costs as they are affected by in-furrow liquid fertilizer banding versus broadcast fertilizer application. Outreach will be through field days, winter workshops, and newsletter articles.
