Proposal summary:
I would like to propose testing potential solutions to perennial quackgrass problems in orchard floor management. Several different types of organic mulches will be applied in an intensively managed trellised dwarf apple orchard. The proposed project would evaluate the relative costs and effectiveness of four mulch systems:
1) Hay
2)Hay on top of newspaper
3)Cardboard
4)Manufactured wool felt mulch
