Fixed Film Anerobic Methane Digester
Summary
The heating of buildings, whether barns or greenhouses, presents a considerable cost to small farmers. A solution to the cost of high heating bills may be found in some small farmer’s back yards.
In this project, an anaerobic methane digester will be developed. The digester will be movable and can be located anywhere on a farm. The test will heat a 20 by 20 foot greenhouse to determine the viability of methane as a renewable fuel source.
Methane, unlike natural gas, can not be compressed. The grower will use expandable bladders to eliminate the need for large storage tanks.
