Evaluating switchgrass in marginal land as a beneficial insect habitat and as compost source for vegetable production

Summary

Project extension to 3/14/2016

A no cost extension for the grant was requested for our project.  The project was to have started 3-15-2014 and we did indeed begin planting the Switch Grass at that time.  However, the grass was not able to take hold due to the lateness of the plantng and the dryness of the year.  We have since found out that Switch Grass needs to be planted on or before the first week of March to assure a stand of grass.  We tried to get it established with irrigation, but were unsucessful.  We applied and were granted an extension.
