Using Truffles to Enhance Douglas Fir Production On A Small Family Farm

Summary

This project will focus on increasing timber production and developing a new cash crop by experimenting with the symbiotic relationship of truffles and Douglas fir trees. Most truffles are mycorrhyzal with other plants, especially trees, providing mineral nutrients and water in exchange for sugars, so they could supplement forest health as well as the economic wellbeing of many small coastal farms.
