Constructed Wetland for Waste Water Treatment

Summary

A low-maintenance, constructed wetland has the potential to clean dilute water waste from a dairy's feeding area or lot runoff so that it can be discharged directly to streams. Such wetlands can trap pollutants and organic litter, and microorganisims in the system can use and transform compounds. This project will serve as a model to demonstrate the idea to other local dairies as a sustainable way of preventing pollution of water resources.
