Compost Thermal Subsidies in Commercial Passive Solar Greenhouse Design

Summary

A large berm of hot compost will be established in the north side of a greenhouse to provide enough heat to grow standard cool season crops such as salad greens and brassicas. Soil and air temperatures, CO2 levels, and plant production and mortality rates in the compost-heated greenhouse will be measured over the length of the cold season.
