Effect of a grazing sericea lespedeza as a treatment padock for controlling natural nematode infection in lambs

Summary

Due to the short time that this project has been underway, the only thing to report is that the sericea lespedeza paddock is being monitored for adequate establishment which will determine when the study will actually be conducted.

Objectives/Performance Targets

The objective of this project is to determine the effect of grazing sericea lespedeza, as a treatment (deworming) paddock, on gastrointestinal nematode infection in lambs.

Accomplishments/Milestones

During the period of this report, the established sericea lespedeza paddock was left to become established in hopes of conducting the study during the summer, 2008. On initial inspection of establishment, it appears that the stand may not be adequate to conduct the study on schedule. The paddock will be seeded again in March, 2008 in order to get enhance the stand.
