Best Management Practices for Livestock Protection Dogs
Accomplishments/Milestones
The first year of data collection was completed in summer-fall 2013. We collected travel behavior data on 14 livestock protection dogs (LPDs) and 18 sheep on 6 different ranches. We studied one band of sheep per ranch. GPS collars were placed on 2 to 3 LPDs per band and 3 sheep per band. Data analysis began in fall 2013 and is continuing. Data collection will be repeated in summer-fall 2014.
