The Benton Elementary School "Local Harvest of the Month" project will initiate a series of experiential learning activities that will directly teach students the essentials of growing, processing and cooking the staple foods that they eat. By emphasizing local growers and producers, students will be better able to visualize the chain that links table to farm. By relating the concept of sustainability to these learning experiences, students will be better informed about the potential impact of their personal food choices.
