Description:
The goal of this short course is to enhance collaboration between UF/IFAS Extension faculty and food and agricultural nonprofit organizations in Florida. UF/IFAS Extension is a statewide network of experts that fulfills the UF/IFAS outreach mission by partnering with communities to provide high-quality, research-based relevant education and expertise to foster healthy people, healthy environments, and healthy communities. The course includes three modules addressing core issues in building a strong nonprofit: Module 1: Building a Strong Board Module 2: Identifying Problems in Programming Module 3: Nonprofit Revenue Generation The course also includes a Nonprofit Resource Center, including a report on the food and agricultural nonprofit sector, "Florida by the Numbers: A Status Report on Food and Agriculture Nonprofits in Florida,' the Directory of Florida’s Food and Agriculture Nonprofits by Extension District, and a list of resources in the form of weblinks to capacity-building nonprofits, research articles, and a list of specialists for supporting Extension-nonprofit collaboration. We want to foster relationships with nonprofits that share UF/Extension’s programmatic goals related to sustainable agriculture, conservation of resources, and improved nutritional outcomes.
