About
Michelle Lovejoy, Foundation Executive Director, is a 15+ year conservation partnership member. She has served in her current capacity since 2011, prior to that she was a state employed resource person and trainer for the soil and water conservation districts. Her skills include nonprofit management, grant writing, landscape scale conservation, innovative conservation financing, managing collaborative partnerships connecting federal, state, local governments and community organizations, community outreach and stakeholder driven processes, and fostering locally-led conservation leadership. She has conducted research on market drivers for landowner enrollment in innovative conservation programs, sourcing glacial marine sedimentation from Vancouver Island, Canada, geophysical modeling and mapping of archeological sites and groundwater recharge zones in southwest Virginia, and groundwater modeling of the Saltville Fault, VA and Hatteras Island, NC. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, Geology, and Mathematics, Appalachian State University; a Master of Science in Environmental and Engineering Geosciences, Radford University, and is a Natural Resources Leadership Institute Fellow, NC State University. She serves on the ENC Sentinel Landscapes partnership steering committee, the Environmental Defense Fund NC Advisory Board, the Southern Cover Crop Council and is a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Society.
