Evaluation of Oilseed Radish Biomass Management As A Control Strategy For Pests In No-Till Corn

Accomplishments/Milestones

No progress in 2014, no funds expended. I was unable to establish field trials in 2014 due to extremely dry conditions during the traditional radish cover crop "planting window" for southern Wisconsin. I staked out the plots but was unable to get the No-till drill to penetrate the ground. Attemped twice, the second time shortly after a rainfall (1/4") which slightly softened the soil but I still could not get the seed incorporated. By the time it rained and I could plant, I felt it was too late and results of the trial would not have answered the applied research quesions nor represented typical on-farm conditions. I have requested a no-cost extenion for an additional growing season so project integrity remains intact.
