Proposal abstract:
The NC SARE program will provide travel and registration scholarships for NCCE (North Carolina Cooperative Extension) educators, agricultural resource professionals, and other stakeholders such as government personnel, non-profit representatives, and mentor farmers. These scholarships will support their participation in training events focused on sustainable agriculture. By providing training opportunities we aim to ensure that agriculture educators and professionals will gain knowledge to share to educate their communities and improve sustainable agriculture practices. The aim is to cover a broad range of topics, such as: Cover crops, organic production, season extension, local food production safety.
Project objectives from proposal:
During FY 2025-26 NC SARE planned to: provide scholarships for registrations/travel to approximate 30 professionals to attend CSFA SAC, along with support for 6 hands-on training presenters. Approximately 15 professionals to attend North Carolina Association of County Agriculture Agents meeting; approximately 20 professionals to the Organic Commodities and Livestock Conference; provide funds to provide training materials or provide for attendees and provide scholarships for approximately 6 professionals to attend other sustainable agriculture trainings that become available that meet the SARE mission.
